Ballymena Road Club Rules & Constitution

01) The name of the club shall be known as Ballymena Road Club.

02) The club shall be affiliated to the Northern Ireland Cycling Federation and, through the N.I.C.F. to the World Body, the U.C.I.

03) The object of the club shall be to encourage and promote cycling in all its forms and to all ages and groups both male and female. Competitive cycling shall be encouraged and promoted, both on the road and on track and in roller competitions. On road time trials, mass starts, hill climbs, team time trials, N. Ireland and Ireland record attempts including tandem and tricycle racing shall be encouraged.

04) On the track, sprinting, distance races, team pursuits and individual pursuits shall also be encouraged. Cycle tours and cycle camping tours shall also be promoted with particular emphasis on the youth.

05) The rules of racing shall be those laid down by the Northern Ireland Amateur Cycling Federation and shall be strictly adhered to. In the event of any dispute arising as to the interpretation of the rules the dispute shall be referred to the Federation governing body for settlement.

06) The club shall have a Chairman, General Secretary, Race Secretary, Treasurer, Time Keeper, Handicapper, President and Vice President, who shall be elected at the AGM.

07) The club shall also yearly promote a series of club cycle races, approximately 25 in number, so as to promote competition among the club members. The club shall also promote annually open competitions and if possible at least one Northern Ireland Championship.

08) Club fees, excluding the N.I.C.F. contribution, shall be struck at the A.G.M. The total fee will be the former sum plus the contribution decided at the N.I.C.F. AGM. There shall be eight categories, senior racing, ladies, juniors, juveniles, club racing only, non-racing, non-cycling and associate members.

09a) The club Committee comprising of the Chairman, Vice-chairman, Secretary, Race-secretary and Treasurer shall be empowered to act on matters concerning conduct of club members.

09b) The club shall appoint three member appeals tribunal, the members of which shall be ex-racing cyclists.

10) No club member shall be entitled to vote before reaching their seventeenth birthday.

11) A Quorum for Ballymena Road Club Annual General Meetings and Extraordinary General Meetings shall consist of a minimum of one third of club members who are entitled to vote.

12) Any change in this constitution can only be effected at the AGM by a notice of motion circulated to all members, fourteen days before the meeting.

13) The Ballymena Road Club Annual General Meeting shall be held on a date some 14 days before the Annual General Meeting of the NICF.

This constitution was amended from the original constitution of 1996 at the Extraordinary General Meeting held on Monday 6 January 1997. The following officials were in office - President: Mr G Caldwell, Chairman: Mr J Webb, Secretary: Mr J McClean
