John Moore Memorial Road Race

Monday, March 2, 2015
Hall Booth was amongst the Ballymena entrants at Saturday’s John Moore memorial road races which were promoted by Castlereagh CC.
"I got away in the first mile in a group of eight in the A race. We stayed clear for 35 miles. Six A1 riders caught us with two laps to go. Unfortunately I broke a spoke with a lap and a half left so it was "game over” as the wheel wouldn't turn past the rear stay - but I was fried anyway by that stage! However it was nice to get up in the action for so long though. I was in good company, with the two winners from last weekend and also Mark McKinley, who used to be an A1 elite rider.
Eileen Burns was second in the ladies race, from 17 entrants, she rode well. The second place was all she could do as she was heavily marked so she launched it on the run in. She got rid of everyone, bar one, but had to keep riding or they both would have been caught so it was always second but it's better than twelfth”

Clifford Grant was also at Saturday’s event. He said "Eileen Burns and Laura Blair were in ladies race. Eileen rode strongly and despite a mechanical problem and using borrowed shoes, she finished second.
In the men's race Hall Booth made the early break that was caused by a crash in the bunch causing a split. He rode really well but faded towards the end. Matt (Brennan) got caught behind the crash, but left the bunch on lap three with four others. They chased hard but never quite got on terms. Great rides by all three.” Added Clifford
