Orra Time Trial

Monday, June 24, 2013
Duffin Transport Racing hosted the Orra mountain road time trial last Thursday evening. The club describe this race as a unique event considering most time trials take place on flat, fast, courses while the Orra event has lots of climbing, technical cornering at high speed, a fast descent to the finish line and of course a bumpy road surface.
This was the second edition of the race and Stephen Harkens of Team Madigan was back to defend his title. There was a special prize to the rider who broke the course record time, which was 46 minutes and 2 seconds.
Ballymena Road Club’s Connor Young recorded 45 minutes 48 seconds to do just that but his time too was to be beaten before the end with Sean McIntyre and Harkens both going faster. Nevertheless Connor should be well pleased with his third place. Ballymena’s Matthew Brennan finished fifth.
Results:
 (1) Stephen Harkens (Madigan) 44:41 (2) Sean McIntyre (Shelbourne) 45:24 (3) Connor Young (Ballymena RC  Chain Reaction Cycles) 45:48 (4) Aaron Swan (TSC Racing) 47:11 (5) Matthew Brennan (Ballymena RC) 48:30
