Richard Reid second @ Tobermore

Monday, August 12, 2013
The fifth and penultimate round of the interclub series was hosted by Carn Wheelers around a 6 miles circuit at Tobermore. The race covered 4 laps and was once again split into 4 groups with 5 minutes 30 seconds separating the riders from front to back. Fast and furious riding from the front group from the start saw the second and third groups make little inroads into their 3 minutes 30 seconds handicap.
The second group was affected by a first lap crash, which disrupted their chase and, in turn, saw the third group catch them by lap 2.
The front group maintained a healthy lead with strong riding from Richard Reid and Brian Geddis.
At the uphill finish Reid again showed his strength to earn an excellent second place on the night to add to his second at Coleraine. The lead league changed hands with Connor Young relinquishing it to Jordan McCaw, a first group rider, on the night.
However with one round left it's still all to play for.
The ladies race saw Claire Gillespie and Emma Smyth line up for Ballymena and both had a very strong race. Claire finished third with Emma fourth, and the win going to Bann Wheelers
