Fun Tour 11

Sixty five riders took part in last Saturday’s fun tour which was the eleventh in the series and the first opportunity to win gold medals.
 
Six riders have full attendance so far this year and they earned their gold on Saturday, they were Francis O’Kane, Paddy Mooney, Beresford Millar, Patsy McGurk, John Elliott and Rex Bonar.
 
Eleven earned silver for eight or more tours: Clifford Grant, Tom Douds, John McAllister, Derek Agnew, Alan Blair, Jim Burns, Christina Clarke, Stephen Dempsey, Jackie Knowles, Alastair Petticrew and Lori Phillips.
 
Eight won their bronze for five tours: Geoff Allen, Eileen Burns, Hazel Hughes, William Loughridge, Paul McWilliams, Millar Montgomery, Gary Simms and Karl Taylor.
 
The "A” group had a 70 miles ride at 17.8mph. They rode to Toome, Ballyronan, Coagh, Cookstown, Lough Fea, Draperstown, Maghera, Portglenone Tully and Ahoghill.
 
The "B” group had a 56 miles ride to Larne and Glenarm at 17.5mph while the tourists completed their longest ride of the series when they did a total of 56 miles at 15.5mph. They took in Taylorstown, Toome, Ballyronan, Loup, Magherafelt, Desertmartin, Tobermore, Maghera, Portglenone, Tully and Ahoghill.
 
The charity fund received a boost this week when another £40 was donated the total is now £970. This will be donated to the Chernobyl Children’s Appeal NI at next month’s presentation in the town hall.
