Blair International Red Hand Trophy

Saturday, May 14, 2011
The second round of the Slane Cycles Ulster Classic League takes place on the 14th May when Ballymena RC host the Blair International Red Hand Trophy. This race is one of the real classics in the calendar and will be one of the tough training races for anyone considering riding the An Post Rás. The Red Hand Trophy dates back to 1898 and is possibly one of the oldest and long standing events in the calendar. This event receives full PSNI support as it winds its way from Broughshane through the Glens of Antrim, an arduous 70 miles.

Glen Kinning (East Antrim) won the Red Hand Trophy in 2010. The previous year he and Ryan Connor had made history when they tied for first place. Connor finished fourth in 2010 after either being in the leading group for the entire race.

Sign on is at 9.30am in Broughshane Community Centre with the race due to start at 11.00am. Please note that Hugh McCullough is the Race secretary this year and not Tommy Wilson as in the handbook.
