Ballymena Gets Ready for the Giro d'Italia

Wednesday, April 16, 2014
On Saturday 10 May, stage 2 of the Giro d'Italia will come through Ballymena on its 218km long route around the magnificent and picturesque North East Antrim Coast.

In Ballymena roads will close from 09:30 to 12:30 for pre-events and the race to take place. The actual race should be going through the town around midday.

The proposed route entails:
  • A26 from Antrim
  • Seven Towers Roundabout
  • Antrim Road
  • Queens Street
  • Harryville Bridge
  • North Road
  • Ballymoney Road
  • A26 to Ballymoney

The council and BRC would appreciate it very much if all club members, friends and family can help provide a guard of honour on Harryville Bridge. We have invested in a large banner along with balloons in the Giro colours to be placed near or on the bridge.

Also we are planning on putting up another banner as the race approaches the town – who can spot its location first?
